Library
Our
Mission
The Friends of the Wells Branch
Community Library is a 501 C-3 volunteer organization whose purpose is to support the
library by supplying volunteers, promoting special events, and
conducting fundraising efforts.
When you join the Friends of the Wells Branch Community Library you will receive invitations to the special
events planned to promote our library and reading in the
community.

Who are the Friends?
The Friends of the
Wells Branch Community Library is a non-profit group whose purpose from day
one has been to support the library by:
• recruiting
volunteers
• fundraising for
materials
• sponsoring
promotional events
• grant- writing
• advocating the
library’s needs
The Friends’ volunteers opened the doors and stocked the shelves in the
beginning years. Annually, our volunteer hours have saved
the district over $70,000 in payroll. The money saved in payroll has allowed
us to expand all of our collections as well as provide new programs and
expand technology offered.
Why Join?
Your neighbors will
know that your really care about our neighborhood AND this valuable
resource! Your membership dollars will be used to promote the library and
enable us to provide programming and items that the library district might
not otherwise be able to purchase/ provide as rapidly. Your volunteer hours
can save the library payroll dollars, while expanding service and can help
promote our library and programs...the possibilities are endless! |
Why are
Donations Still Needed?
The
larger facility required more furnishings, books, shelving and a mortgage.
The library is able to provide a wider array of
services and programs to patrons. Patrons and members of our community
clearly defined their needs to include the constant expansion and
updating of library materials, programs and services. To do this,
we will need to augment funding for many things.
Through donations, grants, and tax funds, the library has been able to
provide a broad selection of books, along with music CD’s and tapes,
audio books, VHS movies and DVDs. The library also provides adult, teen,
and children’s computers with high-speed internet access as well as an
employment computer center specifically designed to aid a person who is
searching for a job.
Because the Friends group is designated as a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization, all gifts are tax deductible and many employers
will match your contribution, which could double your donation.
We urge you
to consider becoming a member of the Friend of the Wells Branch
Community Library. The Friends organization is a valuable asset to out
Library and more Friends are needed now! |
